There are certain times when you will want to avoid cupping altogether, or modify your session …
As always, check with your physician to see if cupping is or isn’t a good idea for you at this time.
Here are some times to use caution or avoid cupping altogether:
—Severe diseases (liver, kidney, organ failure, etc)
—Blood disorders, hemorrhagic disorders, or circulatory conditions. If you’re being treated for some type of blood or circulatory disorder, your doctor might not want you to do cupping, because cupping is greatly enhancing your circulation…That may not be the result you’re looking for, so check with the doc before moving ahead.
—Broken skin, hernia, or allergic dermatitis. Avoid cupping over these areas.
—If you are pregnant or nursing, please check with your doctor first, as each woman’s case is unique.
—If you’re feeling under the weather, ill, fatigued, exhausted, etc., it’s good to either wait until you’re feeling stronger, or cup more lightly (shorter duration or intensity).
This is not an exhaustive list, but it gives you some idea of times to use caution.
Please check with your healthcare team to know what you need at this time!
